We Met at the Moot: Stories From Our Community in Fort Collins

Mar 9, 2026

For decades, The Moot House has been more than just a place to grab a meal. For many people in Fort Collins, it’s a meeting place. Somewhere friendships begin, families celebrate traditions, and everyday lunches turn into lasting memories.

When we launched our “We Met at the Moot” storytelling campaign, we invited our community to share moments that started here. What we received was a reminder of just how meaningful a neighborhood restaurant can become.

Over the past few weeks, guests sent in stories spanning first dates, family traditions, workplace friendships, and unexpected connections. These stories were all tied together by time spent around a table at The Moot House.

A Fort Collins Restaurant Where Stories Begin

Some of the stories we received started with first dates that later turned into marriages lasting decades. One couple remembered sitting down for dinner on what they thought was just a casual night out, not realizing that the restaurant would become part of their story for years to come.

Others shared how The Moot House became a place for family traditions. Celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays year after year. For some families, a visit to the Moot isn’t just dinner out; it’s part of their rhythm and history together.

We also heard from guests who described The Moot House as their go-to meeting spot in Fort Collins. Whether it’s catching up with friends, welcoming someone new to town, or meeting coworkers for lunch, the restaurant has served as a place where connections grow naturally.

From Lunch Meetings to Lifelong Friendships

Many entries highlighted how relationships often start with something simple: a lunch meeting, a recommendation from a friend, or a casual conversation at the bar.

Some guests wrote about workplace connections. Mentors sharing advice over lunch, coworkers celebrating milestones, and teams gathering to mark big accomplishments.

Others shared stories of unexpected moments. Chance encounters, spontaneous dinners that turned into unforgettable nights, and friendships formed simply because someone started a conversation.

These stories are a reminder that while restaurants serve food and drinks, what people remember most are the moments that happen around the table.

Thank You for Sharing Your Moot Stories

Reading through these submissions has been one of the highlights of this campaign. The stories reflect what makes the Fort Collins community so special. Connection, tradition, and gathering together.

To everyone who took the time to share a memory with us, thank you. Your stories are what make The Moot House feel like more than just a restaurant.

Winners for the “We Met at the Moot” giveaway will be notified by email soon, including our grand prize winner who will receive Lunch for a Year, along with ten additional gift card winners.

And if there’s one thing we’ve learned from this campaign, it’s that nearly everyone who walks through the doors has a story waiting to be told.

If you’ve ever met someone, celebrated something, or simply shared a great meal here… chances are you’ve got a Moot story of your own.
